A brand-new night train will connect five European countries starting February 5, 2025. It marks a major step in sustainable and comfortable long-distance travel across the continent. Through the service, operator European Sleeper will link Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Italy. Soon, travelers can explore stunning destinations while enjoying a relaxing overnight journey.
The Night Train Route
The train departs from Brussels and stops in Eindhoven, Cologne, Munich, and Innsbruck before reaching Verona and Venice. City travelers, business commuters, and winter sports enthusiasts heading to the Alps will benefit the most from these stops. In addition, this route offers a hassle-free alternative to flights, reducing travel-related carbon emissions.
Moreover, travelers can board at multiple locations along the way. The service not only connects capitals but also offers easy access to secondary cities. Thus, it’s a practical choice for those looking to explore Europe beyond its major hubs.
“In response to the high demand for winter sports travel, city trip options, and the lack of suitable train connections, European Sleeper is now introducing a new seasonal night train to the Austrian Alps and Venice,” European Sleeper noted on its website.
“This overnight journey connects Belgium and Italy, passing through the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria, making cross-continental night journeys more accessible and enjoyable for travelers.”
Schedule and Frequency
Initially, the night train will operate twice a week during February and March. The schedule will vary slightly depending on the departure date.

With these schedules, travelers can plan seamless weekend getaways or longer stays. More importantly, the convenient overnight journey lets them maximize daytime sightseeing while offering a comfortable ride.
Night Train Ticket Options
Passengers can choose from seats, shared couchettes, or private sleepers. Ticket prices start at EUR 79 for standard seats, making the service an affordable alternative to flights. Meanwhile, those seeking extra comfort can opt for couchettes or private sleeping compartments at higher prices.
Booking is already open on the European Sleeper website, with tickets expected to sell quickly. The train operator encourages travelers to book in advance to secure their preferred accommodations.
Future Expansions
Beyond this new Brussels-Venice route, European Sleeper will continue operating its popular Brussels-Prague night train. Additionally, a new daily Amsterdam-Barcelona service is in the works. These expansions reflect a growing demand for sustainable rail travel across Europe.
Moreover, the launch of this night train aligns with the EU’s push for greener transportation options. It also revives the tradition of overnight train journeys, once a staple of European travel.
